Schneidau, Christian Von

Christian Von Schneidau was known as a skilled mural and landscape painter. He was born in Smoland, Sweden, in 1893. He completed his early art education in Sweden with private tutors and later studied at the Stockholm Academy of Fine Art.

Schofield, Walter Elmer

Walter Elmer Schofield painted atmospheric, impressionist landscapes filled with sun and bright colors, but became best known for his snowscapes and rushing streams, with the movement of the water often shown in diagonal lines, using broad fluid strokes.

One of the better known painters of Western subject matter, Charles Schreyvogel was especially interested in military life in the days of the disappearing frontier. He spent most of his life as an impoverished artist and then earned what seemed like overnight fame.

Seltzer, Olaf

Considered a transition painter between those of the Old West such as Remington and Russell to a later generation that painted only myth and imaginative work, Olaf Seltzer arrived in Great Falls, Montana in 1897, at the age of nineteen.
