ARTIST WORLD RECORD

Painter, craftsman. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1876.

Kosa worked with his father making marionettes for his theater and as an assistant to Alphonse Mucha in Paris for 20 years.

He immigrated to America in 1907 and by 1924 had settled in Los Angeles with his son, Emil Jr.

He made puppets which he used as models for his paintings.

Kosa died in LA on May 11, 1955.

Exhibited: Calif. Art Club, 1936, 1938; Painters & Sculptors of LA, 1927, 1931; All-Calif. Show, 1939.

Works held: LACMA (End of the Trial). AAW; SCA; American Artist, May1968.
