ARTIST WORLD RECORD

Much younger than his artist brothers Ernest and Arthur, Henry Woodbridge Parton was born in Hudson, New York. He "tagged along" on their painting trips into the Adirondacks but had no other formal art training.

In 1876, he went to Paris to study with Eugene Petit, a painter of flowers and fruit.

From 1876 to 1913, he was head rug designer for Alexander Smith Carpet Company in Yonkers, New York, a job that allowed him to travel in Europe.

Most of his rug designs had flowers, especially roses.

His paintings, many of them figures and portraits as well as panoramic landscapes, were exhibited National Academy of Design from 1881 to 1932.
