ARTIST WORLD RECORD

Painter, lithographer.

Born in Vienna, Austria on April 15, 1906.

Van Young studied art in Vienna and received a scholarship to continue at the Academy of Art in Odessa, Russia. Due to political unrest in 1919, he remained there only briefly.

After traveling around Europe, he came to Chicago where he continued his art education and began exhibiting.

About 1940 he settled in Los Angeles and began painting representational watercolors of run-down buildings and street scenes; after 1960 he painted oils in a more abstract style.

He was active in Los Angeles until his demise on Feb. 26, 1993.

Member: Chicago Society of Artists; Calif. WC Society; Calif. Art Club.
