Painter.

Born in Richardson County, NE on April 1,1891.

Nell Walker was educated in Colorado springs and graduated the Lexington (MO) College in 1910. She then moved to California and graduated from the LosAngeles School of Art and Design in 1916.

After her marriage to Dr. Bion S. Warner in 1920, she traveled in Europe and spent three summers in Cape Ann (MA) where she painted many harbor scenes ; however La Canada , CA remained her home.

During the 1920's she was art curator of the Tuesday Afternoon Club (LA) and further studied locally with Fetchin,Werner, and Lauritz.

In 1945 she married Emil Shostrom and, five years later , moved north to Carmel where she remained until her death until death on Nov. 30, 1970.

Her speacialty was floral still lifes; however, she also painted landscapes and scenes of the New England coast.

Member: Calif. Art Cub; Glendale AA; Calif. WC Society; Woman painters of the West (Pres.); Laguna Beach AA; Artland Club; Academy of Western Painters, LA; Pasadena Society of Artists; Society of Western Artists; Carmel AA.

Exhibition: Wilshire Gallery (LA), 1928; GGIE, 1940;CPLH Society for Sanity in Art, 1945.

Awards; four gold and silver medals, Calif. Eisteddfod, 1925; first prize, Southern Calif. Fair, 1925; third prize, Calif. State Fair, 1929, first prize, 1931; prize, Santa Cruz Art League, 1930; hon. mention, Calif. Art Club, 1936.

Works Held: LACMA; Municipal Art Gallery , Phoenix,AZ. AAA 1929-33; WWAA 1936-41; WWC 1942; SCA; CA&A.
